Alexi CEO, Mark Doble, Joins Expert Panel at Bites & AI Insights to Discuss Building and Selling AI Solutions

DMZ and the Vector Institute, sponsored by TD Innovation Partners, held their Bites & AI Insights event on May 8, where Alexi CEO Mark Doble participated in a discussion about the challenges and strategies for building and selling AI solutions to large enterprises, while also managing infrastructure and costs. Mark, along with panellists Devinder Kumar (Head of ML Systems & Engineering, TD Bank), Jumana Fathima (Chief AI Officer, KiwiCharge), and moderator by Fatima Khamitova (Director, Startups & Scaleups, Vector Institute), also delved into Canada’s evolving AI landscape and the growing adoption of AI among lawyers.
Here are some of the highlights from the panel:
AI Won’t Replace Lawyers
- AI and advancements in legal technology won’t replace lawyers. While newer lawyers are more hesitant to adopt AI than those with more experience, there’s something fundamentally unique to human lawyers and how they deliver services to clients that AI will never replace.
Innovation Requires Willingness to Be Challenged
- Startups that want to innovate quickly need to be comfortable putting their ideas under pressure. Scrutiny and iteration are essential. The sooner an idea is tested, the faster it evolves and improves.
Building With AI, Not Against It
- As we continue to build powerful, cognitive AI machines and people raise concerns about their future dominance, we must embrace these advancements so they work for us, not the other way around. Without adoption and integration, we risk hindering innovation and losing our competitive edge in the global market.
Enterprise vs. SMBs: Balancing Differing Needs
- The needs of enterprise firms and small and medium-sized firms are inherently different, and understanding those differences is critical when a company begins to shift from serving one to the other. That’s exactly why we created Alexi Enterprise — to provide large firms with a private, secure, and branded AI solution that integrates seamlessly into workflows.
As AI adoption continues to accelerate, companies must balance rapid innovation with the specific needs of enterprise clients. By embracing advancements and building solutions tailored to high-trust sectors like law, we can ensure that AI enhances human expertise and drives meaningful progress.
