Research Lawyer (Contractor)

Job Summary:

We’re seeking a research lawyer with exceptional research and writing skills for a flexible remote-first work environment at a growing legal AI startup.

As a research lawyer with Alexi, you’ll help some of Canada’s top lawyers figure out the answers to their most challenging legal questions. Each day will be different, and you’ll get to work in as many practice areas as you want to. Because of the nature of our work, we have a thorough selection process in place to ensure we are bringing on the best candidates for the role. This approach allows us to evaluate your skills thoroughly while also providing you with an opportunity to determine if this is the right fit for you. Contractors are paid at a flat rate of CAD $250.00 per memo (inclusive of HST, if you charge it).

"The workplace culture at Alexi is one of curiosity, learning and experimentation. Micromanagement is not our thing. Instead, we hire people we trust, and we give them the space to achieve the results and metrics that we mutually agree are important. We work collaboratively, we brainstorm frequently, and we foster an environment where ideas thrive, not baseless policies or arbitrary directives."

“Alexi has always been a remote-only company — the company's leadership has thoughtfully fostered a culture of trust and respect. Employees' performance is measured by the quality of their work and their contributions to the business, not by the time of day that they arrive at, and leave, the "office". At Alexi, we value our co-workers' unique strengths and skills and regularly lean on each other for help and support.”
