The following excerpt is from The People v. Sorto, F058933, No. VCF199947 (Cal. App. 2011):
Sorto argues that the court should have excluded the evidence that he committed a burglary in Long Beach in 2003 and told an officer he did it to support his methamphetamine habit. He contends the admission of the evidence conflicted with Evidence Code sections 1101 and 352.2 "On appeal, the trial court's determination of this issue, being essentially a determination of relevance, is reviewed for abuse of discretion." (People v. Kipp (1998) 18 Cal.4th 349, 369.)
