The following excerpt is from Brokate v. Hehr Mfg. Co., 243 Cal.App.2d 133, 52 Cal.Rptr. 672 (Cal. App. 1966):

'The question at issue before us is thus not the sufficiency of defendant's allegations to state a cause of action for declaratory relief and for the judgment over, sought against cross-defendants, but, rather, whether under the circumstances defendant is entitled to seek such relief through the medium of a cross-complaint.' (Roylance v. Doelger, 57 Cal.2d 255, 258, 19 Cal.Rptr. 7, 9, 368 P.2d 535, 537.)
