What is the test for terminating the employment of an advertising agent?

Alberta, Canada

The following excerpt is from Thomas v. Associated Investors of Canada Ltd., 1972 ALTASCAD 26 (CanLII):

The case before us is in principle similar to Sellers v. London Counties Newspapers (1951) 1 All E.R. 544. Sellers was employed to get advertisements or sell advertising space and was paid a salary and commission. It was there held that if Sellers obtained an order and the newspapers accepted it and inserted the advertisement, Sellers was then entitled to his commission and that the newspapers could not by terminating his employment deprive him of the commission which he had already earned.
