Does a breach of an essential term of an agreement constitute repudiation?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Wu v Li, 2019 BCSC 1215 (CanLII):

However, a breach of a single term of an agreement, even an essential term, does not necessarily amount to repudiation: B.A.M. v. M.R.M., 2003 BCSC 1070 at para. 27. The test for repudiation sets a high bar that the applicant must meet: Starr v. Cusack, 2013 BCSC 2000 at para. 44.
