What is the test for loss of earning capacity for a plaintiff in a motor vehicle accident?

Saskatchewan, Canada

The following excerpt is from Young v. Regina DiStrict Health Board, 2010 SKQB 242 (CanLII):

A plaintiff is entitled to be put into the position she would have been in but for the accident so far as money can do that. An award for loss of earning capacity is based on the recognition that a plaintiff’s capacity to earn income is an asset which has been taken away. (See Andrews v. Grand & Toy Alberta Ltd., 1978 CanLII 1 (SCC), [1978] 2 S.C.R. 229 (S.C.C.) and Parypa v. Wickware 1999 BCCA 88 (1999), 169 D.L.R. (4th) 661 (B.C.C.A.))
