8 In People v. Robles, Supra, 2 Cal.3d at page 215, 85 Cal.Rptr. 166, 466 P.2d 710 the court held that a defendant must be permitted to testify, even against counsel's advice. In a footnote it indicated, however, that such persistence on defendant's part might raise a question concerning his mental ability to stand trial.
