What factors apply to a claim for retroactive spousal support?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Crossan v. Crossan, 2016 BCSC 2102 (CanLII):

Mr. Justice Bastarache stressed, however, that none of the factors is decisive and that a court should strive for a holistic view of the matter and decide each case on the basis of its particular factual matrix. The courts have since confirmed that the same factors apply to claims for retroactive spousal support: see Kerr v. Baranow, 2011 SCC 10 at paragraph 207, and P.K.C. v. J.R.R., 2014 BCSC 932 at paragraphs 154 to 156.
