The following excerpt is from Wesson v. Campbell River, 1985 CanLII 479 (BC CA):

In my opinion, this appeal must be allowed. I think the case falls within the first of the authorities I referred to above, that is to say, Barham v. Huntingjield. The material contained in the appeal book raises no more than a speculation of publication by some one or more of the defendants to persons unknown of the words complained of in para. 5 of the statement of claim.
