What is the test for producing a jointly appointed report?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Bartch v. Bartch, 2016 BCSC 2041 (CanLII):

I have been provided for guidance in this case with the decision of this court in Aquilini v. Aquilini, 2012 BCSC 1616. Paragraph 1 of that case frames the issue before the court there as follows: The respondent in this family law case seeks production of a report by a business valuator who he says is, or should become, a jointly appointed expert. The claimant says the valuator was retained as her expert and there is no obligation to produce the report unless and until she decides to rely on it at trial and gives appropriate notice of her intention to do so.
