Some later Alberta judgments are cited in the chronology above, and were filed less than two years after the fire and death in question here, and more than two years before the motion to amend. They also showed plainly that whether an estate could recover more than nominal damages for lost future income was a live issue. All that the appellate decision in Duncan v. Baddeley added (shortly after the limitation here expired) was a precedent for a large award to an infant's estate.
