11. There is no "rule" that sentences must increase in easy stages. That's usually just the result of the sentencing process taking its natural course. But here, as in Regina v. Robataille, Court of Appeal 012516, May 19th, 1993, I must recognize that the object is to protect the public, not to make an accused's record fit a preordained pattern.
