What is the test for intervening in a personal injury action?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Piccioni v. Carriere, 2015 BCSC 1299 (CanLII):

The court's process must be used fairly and honestly: Babavic v. Babowech, [1993] B.C.J. No. 1802 (B.C.S.C.). It follows that the court should intervene to protect its process if it is being used as a means of oppression, harassment, or to simply inconvenience or bully the opposite party into a resolution by creating additional expense.
