The following excerpt is from Carlsbad Police Officers Ass'n v. City of Carlsbad, 262 Cal.Rptr.3d 646, 49 Cal.App.5th 135 (Cal. App. 2020):
10 A single-sentence footnote in Bustop v. Superior Court (1977) 69 Cal.App.3d 66, 137 Cal.Rptr. 793 states that the interveners in that case had "stipulated to waive the provisions of Code of Civil Procedure section 170.6 as a condition of intervention." (Id. at p. 72, fn. 2, 137 Cal.Rptr. 793.) But the case does not mention whether that condition was court-imposed , and if it was, whether such a restriction would be valid.
