1 An order dismissing the cross-complaint and granting the respondents' motion to confirm the good faith settlement was filed on October 4, 1988. Pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure section 581d, the dismissal order itself constituted a judgment of dismissal and is therefore appealable. (Chauncey v.
